Frontier Command
★★★★☆ 4.2
Frontier Command asks you to settle a harsh frontier, balancing resources, defenses and expansion. It's slower and more thoughtful than most mobile strategy games, which is exactly why I liked it. Rushing almost always backfires.
The clever part is how weather and terrain feed into your plans. A river protects one flank but limits where you build; a storm season forces you to stockpile early. Decisions have weight, and the difficulty curve respects that you're learning.
It's not flawless — the interface could use fewer taps for routine tasks — but the core loop is genuinely absorbing. If you enjoy planning a few turns ahead and watching a settlement grow, give it a weekend.
What we liked
- Terrain and weather that shape real decisions
- Rewards planning over rushing
- Deep systems that reveal themselves slowly
