Why slow strategy games win on mobile
Mobile strategy has a reputation for being shallow — build fast, tap faster, pay to skip. But the games I keep returning to are the slow ones, where a bad early decision follows you for an hour.
Frontier Command is a good example. It punishes rushing and rewards reading the map. The first time a storm wiped out my stockpile because I expanded too fast, I was annoyed. The second time I planned around it and felt clever. That's the loop.
Slower pacing also fits mobile life better than you'd think. You can make a thoughtful move, close the app, and come back with a clear head. The game waits for you.
If you've written off mobile strategy, try something that asks you to think rather than tap. The genre is better than its reputation suggests.
